We are seeking a graduate-level Maven Fellow to assist with original research that deepens our understanding of the challenges, innovations, and opportunities within social impact work led by queer and trans people of color and their allies. This is a part-time fellowship ideal for a master’s or doctoral student who brings a passion for intersectional justice and an interest in applied research for systems change. This fellow will be paid $25/hour.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Maven team to develop and refine research topics aligned with our mission and current programming

• Conduct literature reviews, policy scans, and qualitative/quantitative data collection and analysis on current trends impacting the well-being of QTPOC individuals and their communities

• Assist with the design and implementation of surveys, interviews, and other research tools

• Synthesize findings into accessible formats, including internal briefs, public-facing reports, and digital storytelling assets

• Contribute to the creation of original thought leadership and knowledge-sharing for use in convenings, publications, and strategic planning

• Maintain ethical research practices and ensure inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness throughout all aspects of the research process

What It Takes

• Enrollment in a graduate program (master’s or PhD) focused on public policy, sociology, social work, education, public health, or a related field with a clear social impact lens

• Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and queer justice

• Experience with community-based or participatory research

• Strong writing, synthesis, and communication skills for both academic and non-academic audiences

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, remote environment

• Lived experience or deep understanding of the unique strengths and impacts of queer and trans people of color is highly valued
